(Don here) Following our evening tour
of the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, we were taken to Ristaurante
Opera. We were served a traditional multi-course Italian
dinner with wine. We thought the food was not out of the ordinary (our
previous restaurant meals had been really great). What was a surprise was to be
treated to live opera while we dined. A young lady, accompanied by a young man
on an accordion, sang well-known opera songs. I eventually asked her if she
took requests, and she said she did. I requested O Mio Babbino Caro (Puccini),
which Sami and I know and like, and she sang a very nice rendition. I recorded
a video of it also. It did make the evening special. Back on board, we left Rome, sailing south.
